Here are some articles I have written about business and professional topics. Since business and technology overlap quite a bit, you might want to check articles in the computers section, the instructional design section or the idiotprogrammer weblog.

• "Are Meetings Really Productive?" gives a tongue-in-cheek perspective on business project meetings. (Mirror ) 2002
• Web Communities and the Art of Making Money examines the business models for content and community sites. Longish--5 parts. (2002)
• How Long should One Wait on Hold for Tech Support? (2002)
• Insults Engraved in Cyberspace: A Lesson In Online Etiquette (2001)
• Medical Careers for people without the structural visualization aptitudes (1995--very old!). This was written for a career consulting firm.
• "This Resume is Terrible!" --Job Obituaries and Information Architecture (2002). This essay uses usability principles to solve the problem of designing a resume for different kinds of readers.
• "Must Have 5 Years Experience" asks why all jobs these days tend to require at least 5 years experience.

Lists

Several times on my idiotprogrammer weblog I found myself devising some lists just for the fun of it. They were lists about nothing important, reflecting my value judgments about some aspects of business or technology. When I find a spare moment I want to start making more lists. So stay tuned!
